Overview

The FreeResource control releases any voice/fax resource allocated to the current channel. If this control is not used, the resource will be freed automatically when the call terminates.

If the voice/fax resource is freed, and the call subsequently requires a resource for play, record or voice processing, an error will occur and the call will be dropped. Note that the voice/fax resource is normally used to detect disconnect on analog lines and should not be freed on these lines.

For systems using digital lines or station sets, where there are fewer voice/fax resources than there are lines, voice/fax resources can be used efficiently by using the GetResource and FreeResource controls to use the voice/fax resource only when required.
